Frequently Asked Questions

DO I NEED A DANCE OR FITNESS BACKGROUND TO TAKE CLASSES?

No dance or fitness background is required. You will learn everything you need to know and gain strength and flexibility as you progress throughout our structured curriculum.

I AM A BEGINNER WHERE DO I START?

Those without previous pole experience should start with any of our beginner level classes that are labeled...BEG, Beginner, Level 1, Level 1.5, BEG Inversions 101. Any beginner and level 1 classes of any kind are perfect!

I AM COMING FROM ANOTHER STUDIO WHERE DO I START?

We would love to place you in a level appropriate class with students who are working on similar skills. Individuals with previous pole experience should send an email to lezah@sdpoledanceadacemy.com summarizing their pole experience and background so a level appropriate class recommendation can be made.

IS POLE RIGHT FOR ME?
"I'M NOT STRONG OR FLEXIBLE ENOUGH, I'M NOT IN SHAPE, I'M NOT COORDINATED, I'M TOO SHY"

Yes!!! NO EXCUSES...we've heard it all. Pole is for all fitness levels, ages, shapes and sizes. Our curriculum is specifically designed to provide you with all of the tools and techniques you need. Just like anything else the more you practice the better you become.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Skin to pole contact is what helps us grip and stick to the pole, fabric will cause you to slip. Tank tops or tee shirts with a supportive sports bra and form fitting short shorts. Layers are recommended as we warm up and cool down. Pole fitness wear is encouraged. All of our classes are taken barefoot, in exotic dance shoes or in lyrical foot undeez. No lotion, oil or jewelry. Proper attire must be worn at all times, no nudity is allowed in the studio.

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT?

Students under the age of 18 must have a signed parental consent form before attending classes. E-mail us at lezah@sdpoledanceacademy.com to obtain a form.

DO I NEED TO SIGN UP IN ADVANCE FOR CLASSES OR CAN I DROP IN?

All clients are required to preregister for class. Advanced registration will reserve your spot in class and prevent you from being waitlisted. Plan ahead and reserve your spot in class.

CAN I OBSERVE A CLASS?

No, classes are participation only. Please browse our website and email us with any questions you have until you feel comfortable coming into the studio and taking your very first class with us. You are more than welcome to attend any of our open houses, public events and schedule a private session.
